Hand Forged Tomahawks
These tomahawks are hand forged by Shelton Browder of Williamsburg, Va.
Shelton recently retired from the blacksmith shop at Colonial Williamsburg after 18 years
in the shop. He has been blacksmithing since his early teens and has studied iron work of the
18th and 19th century for most of that time.
These tomahawks are forged of wrought iron and have a steel bit welded into the edge. The handles are about 18" long
and are of hickory with have an oil finish. The heads are about 5" to 6" long with a 2½" to 3" cutting edge. They are
available with or without a hammer poll on the back of the head. The hammer polled ones are typical of the ones issued
to the British infantry during the American Revolution.
