This rifle is common to what was coming out of the western parts of Penn. and Va. circa 1820. It has the later waterproof type lock, no patchbox and incised carving. The double set triggers were becoming more common by this time and barrels were parallel sided as opposed to the earlier tapered and flared style.
I made this one with a 3/4" by 38" barrel in .30 caliber. Weight is about 5 3/4 lbs. and virtually no recoil. A great gun for a woman or a youth.
