This is a very beautiful custom rifle made using all original parts except for the barrel.

This rifle is part of the estate of the late James Jones of Frankfort, Ky.

 This rifle is stocked in a piece of very nice figures English walnut that that is stained to a nice medium brown with a hand-rubbed oil finish. It has a horn forend cap and grip cap. The lock is by John Rigby and has a sliding safety. The barrel was made by renowned Shiloh Sharps gunsmith Ronald Snover of Greenville, TN.  It is 36" long in .451 caliber. The best I can measure the rifling is a 1-18 twist. Probably shoots best with a paper patched .451 bullet which are available from Buffalo Arms. The bore is in excellent condition. The lock and tang have been beautifully case hardened with the other steel parts having a deep blued finish. Unfortunately due to the owner being deceased, the original sights were not found. The front would be a common dovetailed globe type which is easy to find. The rear tang sight can be made from a slightly modified Soule or Vernier type. I would suggest contacting Montana Vintage Arms and see what they have that will work.   

Overall it is in excellent condition. It looks like it just came off the bench. Inlets are tight and well done.
